Cybersecurity Fundamentals
Is this course right for you?
Over eight weeks Jonathan Weissman surveys the field — core security concepts, the CIA triad, cryptography basics, networking and systems administration, and threat detection, malware and forensics — building the vocabulary and mental model a security career rests on. It needs no prior experience.
What it does not do is offer hands-on, tool-focused job training or a quick overview — it is academic and breadth-first — so if you want practical labs or a fast route, the Google Cybersecurity certificate fits better instead. Free to audit, with an optional paid RITx certificate, and RIT keeps it updated.
