Skip if: you need a certificate for an employer, or you already know distributions and hypothesis testing.

The teaching is the reason to pick it. Short videos, worked examples, and adaptive practice that keeps drilling whatever you get wrong, all at your own pace. The practice is what makes it stick, and it is a strong way to build or rebuild the fundamentals before you have to apply them.

The honest limit is that it stops at the concepts. There is no certificate, no programming, and no portfolio project, so it will not on its own show an employer you can do the job. Pair it with Python, R or SQL once you are ready to apply what you have learned.

You need to be comfortable with basic algebra — fractions, simple equations, and reading graphs. The harder topics lean on Algebra II-level skills, so if algebra is rusty, Khan Academy's own algebra track is a natural warm-up before you dive in.

Khan Academy is the official practice partner for AP, but this general Statistics and Probability unit isn't the same as its dedicated 'AP/College Statistics' course. Learn the concepts here if you like, but for exam preparation specifically, switch to the AP Statistics course, which is structured around the exam.

For understanding the ideas — descriptive statistics, probability, distributions and inference — it holds up well. What it doesn't give you is doing statistics in software like R or Python, proof-based depth, or credit toward a degree, so a for-credit course still goes further on both rigour and application.

Khan Academy is systematic and curriculum-style, with practice that drills you until a topic sticks; StatQuest is intuition-first and brilliant for unsticking one specific concept, especially the stats behind machine learning. Many people learn the structure here and reach for StatQuest when a single idea won't click.
