Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst Professional Certificate
Is this course right for you?
You go from connecting to data, through cleaning and shaping it in Power Query, building data models and writing DAX, to publishing interactive dashboards — the actual day-to-day of a BI role rather than analytics theory in the abstract. That makes it especially worthwhile where Power BI is the core tool, and a poor use of time if you want general analytics theory or you work in a different tool.
The costs are worth mapping before you commit, because there are two of them. As a Microsoft-built Professional Certificate it runs on a Coursera subscription (about $49/month, billed until you finish and not covered by Coursera Plus), so working faster costs less; financial aid is available and you can audit individual courses free without the certificate. Separately, the official PL-300 exam is about $165, booked directly with Microsoft.
Be clear on what earns you what: this certificate is a credible entry-level credential and it maps to the PL-300 objectives, but it's passing that separate exam — not finishing the course — that gives you the actual Microsoft certification. Treat the course as strong preparation for it (as of 2026).
