Frequently asked questions

Google UX is more job-prep focused with portfolio projects and employer connections. CalArts is more conceptual and design-theory heavy. Pick Google for getting hired; CalArts for a creative foundation.
It can, especially via Google's employer consortium (Walmart, Verizon, Best Buy). But the portfolio you build during the course is what actually lands interviews — make it genuinely good.
Bootcamps cost $7k–$10k with 1:1 mentorship and job placement support. Google cert is $300 total but self-directed. Pick the bootcamp if you need accountability; pick Google if you are self-motivated.
Both, but Figma is the primary tool (free tier is enough). Adobe XD is covered briefly because much of the industry has moved to Figma since 2023.
Audit it on Coursera for free — same content, no certificate. Pair with Refactoring UI (free articles) and the Figma YouTube channel for the same portfolio quality.
